Temporary Financial Assistance

 

Please download and return the application below along with a copy of the veteran's DD-214, or other proof of honorable service along with copies of the actual bill or bills the veteran is requesting assistance with.   Be sure to indicate how the check or checks should be made payable, as well as any memo line info such as address, or account number.  Also please be sure to indicate the correct mailing address for the checks.  The checks will be made payable to the party owed by the veteran, not to the veteran and mailed directly to the party owed.

Grants for the Wounded and Returning Warrior Program grants must total less than $3000.00 and must be for a paid in full balance.  Partial payments towards a larger debt will not be provided.

The bills must be in the Veteran's name.  If the bill is in the spouse's name, a valid marriage license / certificate must be provided.  If a bill is related to a dependent child, a copy of their birth certificate must be provided.  For rental assistance, a copy on the lease or rental agreement must be provided along with a balance statement from the landlord or a demand for possession letter in the case of eviction assistance.  For a mortgage payment, a copy of the payment coupon or statement showing all identifying information must be submitted.

For bills related to vehicle issues, the vehicle and the bill must be in the veteran’s name.  Please submit a copy of the actual repair invoice from a licensed and insured repair facility.  Valid proof of insurance in the veteran’s name may be requested.

Legal fees, luxury items, credit card debt and debt to family or friends are not eligible for assistance.
